Rabbi Twerski: Why Feeling Angry Actually Punishes YOU

Rabbi Twerski: Why Feeling Angry Actually Punishes YOU

I just read this in Rabbi Avraham Twerski’s new book Happiness and the Human Spirit: The Spirituality of Becoming the Best You Can Be…and thought this was very wise advice:

[Rabbi Twersky heard this advice from an Alcoholics Anonymous long-time participant who explained]:

“Hanging on to resentments is allowing someone you dislike to live inside your head without paying rent.

“Why would you be so foolish?

“The person whom you dislike doesn’t care how you feel about him or her.

“You are the one who is tormented by resentments.

“Why punish yourself for another person’s misbehavior?”
