My Awesomest Birthday Present of All

My Awesomest Birthday Present of All

I got a bunch of wonderful gifts for my birthday two weeks ago…but the most utterly amazing, unforgettable gift I got was a song that my dear friend and chavruta (who also happens to be a popular singer) Efrat Razel wrote and recorded for me (wow!). This is a song from one Nachlaot mother to another, about maintaining hope at times of near-total darkness (based on something we learned together in the Netivot Shalom). I’ve been listening to this quite obsessively since I received it, and it’s really been helping me to see beyond this crisis to a brighter future for Nachlaot. I can already imagine Hashem smiling at me too…THANK YOU EFRAT!!! (Original Hebrew lyrics and English translation below)
FOR WOMEN ONLY, PLEASE!

“All those who hope for Your redemption won’t be embarrassed.
Those who trust in You won’t be ashamed.”
I’ve walked a long way, and the darkness was so thick
But I knew that on the other side You would be waiting for me and You would say, “Nothing can withstand your Trust in Hashem…”

I’ve walked a long way, before me the gate is locked
I’ve forgotten all my prayers, from screams I’ve lost my voice
But I knew that on the other side You would be smiling at me and You would open up
“Nothing can withstand your Trust in Hashem…”
And You will open…
You will open the Treasury of Free Gifts
You will open Heaven above
You will open a great pool of light
