Dear Mrs. Pozner and Mrs. Pinto,

My heart breaks for the loss you are suffering with the losses of your children.

I cannot imagine the pain and confusion you are both suffering, wondering why HaShem would allow this to happen. We can’t know….we can’t understand……we can’t know the answer to the question “Why?” But I wish we could.

Your children’s souls were pure, and will surely merit to rise up to Heaven, but like you, I wish they were here with you.

May their memories be for blessings, and may the happy times you shared with them over their all too short lives be sources of comfort to you now, and in the days to come.

I will tell my daughter about your boys, and together, we will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers forever, along with the others in your town.

    HaMakom yenachem et’chem b’toch shar avay’lay Tzion vee’Yerushalayim.
May the Omnipresent comfort you among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

I’ve always had a thought to write a poem entitled Silent Tears because whenever I hear of someone’s heartbreaking loss, that is what I think of. I can’t hear your tears, they’re silent to me. On the other hand, I hear them in my feelings, I hear them and I feel pain for you. When a precious soul is taken away, it is taken to the Highest Source, G-d, and He doesnt hear Silent Tears. He is there with you and He knows the tears, and He knows you.
May you have the strength which He gave you, to deal with every moment which is so hard now, there are many people who are thinking of you, I hope that as we “hear” your tears, that you feel our caring.

Baruch Dayan HaEmet. May Hashem comfort you among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem. We will never forget you.

One thing that eventually brought me a tiny bit of comfort after losing my father (and I know there is NO comparison in the world between the two) was as follows — maybe it will bring you comfort too.

When we say the phrase above the name of G-d that is used is “Hamakom” The other translation for this in Hebrew is “the place”. This comes to show us that the place that Noah had in your heart will ALWAYS remain there and will be there to comfort you.

My heart breaks for you and all I can do is increase in my doing mitzvos so that Moshiach can come and you can be reunited with your precious Noah again!

  191. Dear Mrs. Pozner

There is no pain like this. Your beautiful young son, unable in this world to live the life you expected him to, Not to live the life you were preparing him so lovingly to acquire.

We live in a world that makes no sense even when there is no overt challenge to our faith. Evil people, dishonest people seem to striv, perpatrate their pain and the innocent seem to suffer.

Noah is up with G-d, an unblemished holy soul. In the upper world where so much is understood there are no questions. Noah knows why he sacrificed his life in this manner. His sacrifice is powerful in bringing goodness to the world. He is close to his source- G-d, and is comforted.

We left here on earth to live life without Noah in it – we have so many questions for which there are no answers.

    You are not alone –

May G-d, (HaMakom- in this place -the place you are in now) Yi Nachem- comfort O’sach-you B’Toch-among Avlei- the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem. AMEN

    Sincerely with love and pain

  197. There is no deeper, sadder loss. It will surely be a long, long time before you can say you are beginning to feel any sense of comfort, and I know I possess no words adequate to offer you any. See from all these hundreds of sensitive notes of love to you that we as a nation are really a family, and feel your pain too, if only a fraction. I had a flash thought, and feel compelled to share it with you: Your child was a HERO. Somehow it gives me a little strength and encouragement. So if it helps, just keep reminding yourself! Shout it over and over, because it is true: YOUR CHILD IS A HERO. A strong soul, who now understands why he was a gift to your family. He will surely be praying for his loved ones next to Hashem’s throne. Devorah from Far Rockaway

The entire world shares in your suffering. And, of course there are no words for this tragic loss. I did once hear, however, something about the traditional words of Jewish mourning. We say, “The PLACE will comfort you among all those who mourn for Zion and Jerusalem.” The PLACE (HaMakom) – is another name for G-d. But it also can be read:
The “place” left so vacant by this loss – will be filled eventually with the love and meaningful deeds your child left behind.
May your child’s memory be one of strength and continued blessing for your family.

  226. Chaya Rivka Carasso

  260. Shalom! WOW! So few of us know what to say and what NOT to say! Just know that you and your family and friends are in our prayers. And without the strength of HaSHeM, there would be NO way to get through this in our own earthly strength! Surround yourself with encouraging wonderful people. DO NOT be afraid to say that you are tired and need a nap. Or just need time to yourself. Tell people to take your other kids to Chuck E. Cheese, the mall, the indoor trampoline place, etc. If they REALLY want to help, they will do what you ask. If you dont want your other kids out of the house, ask them to sit and watch a movie or do a craft or game while you are resting. There are soooo many things you CAN do. But you ALLMust get rest. As much as you can. Do NOT overcommit! And when people get tired of your pain. Let them just go on with themselves. You see, I just lost my best friend of 16 years. She presently has 11 children. Ike Myer (named after my husband) died last year of SIDS. Linda has not been the same since. She has turned bitter and angry! Opening up to people on the internet, but pushing away the people that she knows well and being downright mean spirited! She homeschools and her kis are very begind. the 14 year old cant even read yet. and now she wants another baby! she is almost 47 years old so you can imagine tring to find a doc that can help, OY! Anyway, Dont give up on your friends please! this is deeply painful to me and I know to her too. NOt to mention all of our children. I asked to have a couple of them over the holiday and she wont let me! She has NEVER said no before. I cant imagine your pain or hers. But I just want you to know that when you are feeling more like yourself (no matter how long it takes) remember your friends ARE there for you. Even if they make stupid comments at the wrong time. They mean well. Please give them the benefit of the doubt. And dont loose them as friends. Educate them on what to say and what NOT to say. Love you my friend! Don’t kow you, but I am sending hugs through the net!..Please call if you would ever like a listening ear! I have a good one. I live in VA so I am on east coast time. My husand is a rabbi, so my schedule is somewhat flexible!

The L-rd bless you and keep you. The L-rd make HIS face to shine upon you! And be gracious unto you! The L-rd lift up his countenance upon you and grant you peace!!

    Shalom

Because I have lost a son from a meaningless violent crime, I can
say that your pain and loss are so terribly and impossibly difficult.
Friends and family help to get you through, and especially my friend
who became my chavrusa, learning Tanya with me daily, made it possible
to survive and even give back in faith and caring to others.

Our people are so fortunate, to know that our prayers, of techiat ha Maitim,
will surely be realized and we will all be together again with the complete revelation of Moshiach Tzdkeinu, any minute now. with blessings, Bracha
