How to Make Stress Your Friend (14-Minute TED Talk Video)

Here’s what TED Talks says about this paradigm-shifting video:

Stress. It makes your heart pound, your breathing quicken and your forehead sweat. But while stress has been made into a public health enemy, new research suggests that stress may only be bad for you if you believe that to be the case.

Psychologist Kelly McGonigal urges us to see stress as a positive, and introduces us to an unsung mechanism for stress reduction: reaching out to others.

Special thanks to Ariel JewishMOM Yael Maizels for sending this my way…

  1. That’s amazing! Now I just need to remember it at Pesach time.

  2. Is there a way to get a written TRANSCRIPT of this?
Also, how can one get this with HEBREW subtitles, so I can send to some Israeli friends?
Does one subscribe to TED? How do you get to find out about these amazing talks, all of those which have come my way have been very insightful/helpful

  3. Two thoughts – the first is to be aware of the limitations of science vs. the timeless truths of Torah. Imagine knowing that you might have caused your clients’ deaths by teaching what was in vogue – stress is bad. Secondly, on the stress scale, getting married and the death of someone close to you both rank at the top. We have shiva and sheva brachot at those stressful times where we are surrounded by people.

  4. thanks for posting. very interesting.
