Another reason why I love living in Israel-- graffiti like this (right next to the Machaneh Yehuda market). The original graffiti (in red) insists "Common decency takes precedence over Torah" to which another graffiti painter (writing in black) responded "If there's no Torah, there's no common decency!" I'm not a fan of graffiti (the writing of which seems, in fact, to be a contradiction of common decency), but I do adore living in a place where Judaism is so central to our lives that people are even arguing about it on the walls of the city.

When he asked the driver about it he explained "Travelers were arriving hungry -- especially many traveling international." Higgley continues: "So this was his way to help. Nothing more than that. "Well, you are an inspiration," I told him. And he just smiled. Another fare in the backseat. Nourished with kosher kindness."
