Chana Jenny, this is absolutely true. When my friend was in her teens, her home-life was very dysfunctional and broken. When her friends would say, “My parents won’t let me do that.” – she knew that there was no one at home setting boundaries for her. I think we all need boundaries. She eventually just began to say that she was not allowed to do certain things, (even though no one at home cared). Somehow she longed for the security of limits – as acts of love from parents.
