You are a Star, Literally!

You are a Star, Literally!

You can read this post or watch the video of me reading it below.

JewishMOM, you are a star. No, really! Literally!

You are an actual star, or at least you were made from one.

In 2017, leading astronomers at the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, revealed that 97% of the human body is made up of stardust. Elements created within or from stars.

Or as Carl Sagan put it:

The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. …Even through your hardest days, remember you were made of stardust.”

  1. That doesn’t sound true according to Torah, unless I am misreading it.

  2. The Torah in Bereishis (Rashi Chapter 2) says we are made of earth kneaded with water

    • I very well might be wrong, but the way I was seeing it, the earth is composed of elements. And almost all of those elements were actually created (according to these recent scientific findings) inside or by stars. So I don’t see a contradiction with the Torah’s Creation story. The star theory is just explaining the origin of the earth that Adam was made from. Does that make sense?

  3. This reminded me of the HaYom Yom from the 5th of Cheshvan:

The Jewish people are compared to the stars twinkling in the high heavens. By their light, even he who walks in the darkness of night shall not blunder.

Every Jew, man or woman, possesses enough moral and spiritual strength to influence friends and acquaintances, and bring them into the light.
