Belzer Dayan: Keep Pesach Cleaning to the Absolute Minimum this Year
This week, on the official phoneline of the Belzer Chassidus, Belzer Dayan Rabbi Shlomo Binet instructed families to keep Pesach cleaning to an absolute minimum this year. Here are his exact words (the original Hebrew included below):
During a year like this, one should add no stringencies and clean only one cabinet for kosher-for-Pesach foods. And leave the rest [of the cabinets] as they are, there is no need to clean them.
And God willing, a day or two before Pesach remove anything that is actual chametz, as listed in the Shulchan Aruch, and on the night of Bedikat Chametz the father of the household will check that no actual chametz remains, only what is permitted by Jewish law.
Aside from that, put all of your strength and energy into the children who are at home and need their parents spiritually and physically. At a time like this, children need their parents.
The damage that can take place at times when there is no educational framework could be irreversible. As it says, “The enemy has been destroyed; swords exist forever.” (Psalms 9:7)
“The enemy has been destroyed”: The corona will leave us, God willing.
“Swords exist forever”: This is the damage that could remain with our children for many years.
Therefore, this is the time to sit at home and not clean or scrub! Rather, to give ourselves to our children, physically and spiritually. Chametz is forbidden on Pesach, not dust or old clothing. Every year we perform this mitzvah l’mehadrin, and clean and scrub with extra stringencies.
But during a year like this one, the mehadrin way is to invest in our children so they aren’t influenced by the street and technology.
And regarding the crumbs and the dust, according to halacha they are nullified and we can even see them on Pesach.
As is known regarding the Belzer Rebbe, Rebbe Aharon, they would eat chametz on Shabbat HaGadol on a regular tablecloth and after the meal, they would shake it out and all the crumbs would fall onto the ground and were considered like “dust of the earth.”
It’s best to sell almost all the cabinets in the house to a non-Jew, and write “Sold to a non-Jew” and only clean the cabinets needed for Pesach in accordance with halacha, for the holiday.
Infuse the home with calm and tranquility and be with the children and enjoy together this situation that God has brought to us.
May God help that we will merit to share good news and redemptions and comforts and that this entire disease will disappear and that we will already merit finally, finally the coming of Moshiach. And we hope and pray “I will wait for him every day that he should come” speedily and in our days, Amen!

שנה כמו השנה לא להוסיף חומרות ולנקות ארון אחד בלבד למאכלים כשרים לפסח
והשאר להשאיר כמו שהם ואין צורך לנקות
ובעז”ה יום יומיים לפני פסח להוציא מהארונות את כל החמץ ממש, כמו שרשום בשולחן ערוך,
ובליל בדיקת חמץ אבי המשפחה יבדוק שלא נשאר חמץ ממש, אלא רק מה שמותר על פי ההלכה,
חוצמזה את כל הכוח והאנרגיות להכניס בילדים הנמצאים בבית וצריכים את ההורים גם ברוחניות וגם בגשמיות,
זה זמן שהילדים זקוקים להורים
הנזק שיכול להיגרם בזמנים ללא מסגרת חינוכית הוא בלתי הפיך
כדכתיב: “האויב תמו והחרבות לנצח”
האויב תמו: הקורונה בעז”ה תלך מאיתנו…
והחרבות לנצח: זה הנזק שיכול להישאר אצל ילדינו לשנים ארוכות…
לכן זה הזמן לשבת בבית ולא לנקות ולא לשפשף ! אלא לתת את עצמינו לילדינו, הן בגשמיות והן ברוחניות.
האיסור בפסח הוא על חמץ לא על אבק ולא על בגדים ישנים…
בכל שנה אנו מהדרין ומנקים ומשפשפים בהידור רב,
אבל שנה כמו השנה, ההידור יהיה כשנשקיע בילדינו שלא יושפעו מהרחוב והטכנולוגיה
ולגבי הפירורים ואבק על פי ההלכה הם בטלים ומבוטלים ומותר אפילו לראות אותם בפסח !!
כמו שידוע שאצל הרה”ק מהר”א מבעלזא זיע”א היו אוכלים חמץ בשבת הגדול על המפה כרגיל ואחרי הסעודה היו מנערים את המפה וכל הפירורים היו נופלים על הקרקע ונחשבים כ’עפרא דארעא” .
כמעט את כל ארונות הבית אפשר למכור לגוי לכתחילה ולרשום ‘מכור לגוי’ ורק את הארונות הנחוצים לפסח אותם ינקו כפי הנדרש בהלכה לכבוד החג,
לראות להשרות בבית רוגע ושלווה ולהיות עם הילדים ולהנות ביחד במצב שהקב”ה זימן לנו.
השי”ת יעזור שנזכה להתבשר בבשורות טובות ישועות ונחמות ושכל המחלה הזאת תיעלם וכבר נזכה שוין שוין לביאת המשיח ואנו מקווים ומתפללים “אחכה לו בכל יום שיבוא” במהרה בימינו אמן.
