Talking with the “Enemy”

Tensions between Right and Left are sky-high after a victory in the Knesset today for judicial reform. International news on Israel is all about the fury of those protesting the reforms, and the increasingly violent demonstrations.
But what the news hasn’t been telling you is that this deep rift distancing Israelis from one another is also creating, among some on both sides of the conflict, a yearning to come together.
In Gan Sacher, where anti-reform demonstrators have set up a large tent encampment, hundreds of Israelis, from Right and Left, religious and secular, have been gathering at all hours of the day and night to talk. And more importantly, to listen.
It might sound naive, but I love seeing the demonstrators from both sides parading around with Israeli flags. Those flags remind me that we Israelis don’t always love each other, but we do love Israel. And the people from both sides of the conflict talking in Gan Sacher show that this common love for our country can also bring about love for one another, IY”H.
YES, G!d willing!
I would love to participate in a “demonstration” where both sides are coming together to talk. If you have info of any more of these, can you please post? Thank you!
if I hear of any more, I will tell you:)
