Mother of Two: A Poem for Elul by Yotvat Goren

Mother of Two: A Poem for Elul by Yotvat Goren

(translated from Hebrew)
The King is in the Field!
And I want to race
And go out to seek His face.
To pray, to find,
To gain some peace of mind.
To breathe in, to feel the air
To think deep, and do Teshuva there.

Yes, I am racing
–because my baby is hungry
And going out
–To hang up laundry
Praying?
No. Just coping.
Breathing and kissing
Diapering, hugging.
And when I sit down to think
I fall asleep
in a blink.

Don’t worry, little Mom.
This year, to your home
The King will come.
