Bless this Mess
Annie was already a famous photographer by the time she met her husband, Joe. They married when Annie was 40, and she had their first child when she was 41.
Yesterday, I was hanging out with Annie and her baby Emmett (that means “truth” in Hebrew) at our Independence Day barbecue.
And this is what Annie told me: “I like things very neat, very orderly. And before I became a mother I thought that I would not be able to handle the mess of having a child in the house. I thought I would have zero patience for it. But in the end I don’t mind the mess one bit. In fact,” she said, as she fed a piece of chicken to her son, “for me it’s the happiest mess ever.”
Amen! Or should I say…Emmett!
