A Hasidic All-Female Band That Rocks (2-Minute Wall Street Journal Video)

Very sweet! I wish these women so much success! Also wanted to recommend a great article this week on Aish.com called “High Priestess”, inspirational thoughts from a Jewish woman who covers her hair.

Frigid City by Bulletproof Stockings (lyrics below).

Scurrying through the countryside
Like a scavenger analyzing the turf
He surveys the premises
Rummaging through emerald blades
And scouring the sodden lanes
Thoroughly he covers his ground
Scouting for evidence
Hoping to align fragments back together

Everything is so cluttered here I can’t sleep
And when I do I awake on empty
Could you show your face just a little more frequently
I didn’t know it was so cold in the city

Little flames of tangerine
Burning in each window
Emit radiance so strong
He stops a passerby, “How to capture those lights
Make them pervasively bright?”
“If you or I had the answer” the man returns
“We wouldn’t be here, we’d be home with our lessons learned.”

Everything is so cluttered here I can’t sleep
And when I do I awake on empty
Could you show your face just a little more frequently
You never told me it’d be so cold in the city

In the rural plains
Twas easier I think
To navigate one’s reality
Less dirt there
More soil
A deeper incentive for me to be loyal
Added light
Better light
Visionaries with better sight
A tighter grasp
Stronger handles
Tougher soles
A more fervent stride
And less sleepless nights
Oh the sleepless nights
I tell you

  1. love is in the eyes of the beholder…

    love is blind…

    etc.

i don’t listen to the music, i just get a kick out of the name of the band.

    bulletproof stockings

totally sums up being frum and female

  2. “Very sweet” ! Are you sure this is sweet?? I would rather say….original!!

  3. AWESOME NAME. Bulletproof Stockings. Coolest thing I’ve heard in a LOOOOOONG time.

I admire them. One of the things that has been so hard for me is to learn to love the things I use to, and to do them, but dressed drum (ugh). I can’t stand going to the beach or to the gym anymore, which is so hard for me. I just can’t do those things with my entire body covered! So I really admire these girls who are rocking it despite their frumness.

    Go girls!
