Chana Jenny, This very thing reminds me of the Yonatan Danino story! He saw the unfulfilled sadness of Arnold Schwarzenegger. He saw the emptiness of the life of someone that had “everything”, yet not happiness. When Yonatan parked his car and followed the Jews into shul, it was his first step back to Yiddishkeit . . . a true COMMITMENT, that would bring true happiness.
This is so interesting, thanks for talking about it. Another example I have is that once my daughter couldn’t decide if she wanted to go camping for 2 days with her grandparents. So we told her to go for one day and then if she chooses to come home, we’d come get her. Of course this decision made her crazy and she spent the entire first day wondering if she wanted to come home the 2nd day or not. She ended up wanting to come home, but that decision made her not be able to enjoy herself at all!
