Bringing a Shabbat SHALOM to Lod
My husband and I have a deep connection with the Jewish community of Lod because my husband’s rav is Rav Yisrael Samet of the Lod’s Garin HaTorani (the Zionist-religious community). Rav Samet and his Rabbanit Tami basically adopted my husband when he arrived in Israel 30 years ago, and then, in turn, me and our family. They have served as our role models and mentors as we’ve attempted to raise a religious Israeli family, guiding us through every new stage of parenting and each challenge that arises. At the bris of our youngest child, I told Rabbanit Tami that we have 8 kids because of her. I joked, “The Samets have 8 kids, so in our eyes an honest-to-goodness family must have 8 kids!” This video filled me with joy, to see how Jews from across Israel flocked to Lod last Shabbat to protect its Jewish families from rioting Arabs. I was especially moved to see the grandfather who came to protect his 6 grandchildren. May Lod be blessed this week with a Shabbat SHALOM!
