Father Seriously Injured in Gaza Operation Miraculously Recovers in time for Son’s Bar MItzvah

Last week an especially moving bar mitzvah took place in Ashkelon for 13-year-old Shaked Weinstock. Shaked’s father, Edward, was seriously injured just 7 weeks before in Operation Guardian of the Walls when his home was suddenly reduced to a mound of dust and debris by a direct missile strike.
“When we arrived at Soroka Medical Center to visit the wounded,” recalls Rabbi Menachem Kutner of the Chabad Terror Victims Project, “we entered Edward’s room and saw him bandaged and wounded with severe burns. With tears in his eyes, he said their son would become bar mitzvah in a month and a half and he worried that he wouldn’t be able to organize it in his medical condition. “
Rabbi Kutner reassured Edward that Chabad would take care of the bar mitzvah and all he needed to worry about was recovering! And that’s exactly what Edward proceeded to do.
By the bar mitzvah last week, Edward had sufficiently (and miraculously) recovered from his injuries to such an extent that he was able to stand on his feet throughout the prayer service alongside his son, Shaked, and even joined in the dancing with the Chabad emissaries in attendance.
Mazal tov to Shaked, Edward, and the entire Weinstock family! All of Am Yisrael is rejoicing with you in your special simcha!
