Superstar Yuval Dayan’s Moving Performance of “V’Zakeni” this Yud Tet Kisle

I so wish all of you could have been with me and my daughter tonight at Jerusalem’s International Conference Center for the annual Yud Tet Kislev Tsama conference. For years, the Tsama conference has been one of the highlights of my year, and this year it was doubly uplifting, after a year and a half of covid restrictions coupled with my own year of mourning restrictions, to be singing and praying and dancing with around 1000 other women participating in the women’s farbrengen marking the birthday of Chassidut.
It felt like such a holy event that I found myself praying as if I was at the Kotel. When we sang the “Arba Babot” I imagined my great-great-grandparents and beyond, who had been Lubavitcher Chassidim, singing those same tunes with dvekut and yearning in the Ukraine. Sitting there tonight how I longed to bring the light of chassidut into my life!
In this video, one of Israeli’s most popular singers (and one of my personal favorites), Yuval Dayan, performs “V’Zakeini.” Beside her on stage are (from right) Sivan Rahav Meir, Ruchama Ben Yosef, and Leah Shabbat.
