All the Stuff I Cleaned this Week

All the Stuff I Cleaned this Week

Next week I’ll start cleaning for Pesach. But this week I enjoyed some old-fashioned spring cleaning.
I got onto a ladder and cleaned 6-years worth of dust off the blades of our ceiling fans with a pillowcase.
I separed the rat’s nest of wires under my desk, and rubber-banded them into 3 neat ponytails for my computer, modem, and router
I pulled out my desk, and wiped a quarter centimeter of dust off my window sill.
I cleared out my overstuffed desk and “Eema’s drawer” in the kitchen, leaving just some pens, coins, bus passes and non-sticky post-it notes (what are those called, actually?)
I also gave away 4 trashbags of clothing. And about 40 books.
And I bought a new lavender dress for seder night, and then found the perfect hat to go with it.
The Netivot Shalom says that every day of Nissan has the spiritual power of Rosh Chodesh, an unparalleled punch of personal renewal every single day. .
And after all this cleaning, and spring suddenly warming up the Jerusalem air after an unusually cold and long winter, I can finally smell it approaching: Nissan, Passover, Hope. Redemption, Right. Around. The.Corner.
