A Bride and Groom’s Apartment-Hunting Miracle

A Bride and Groom’s Apartment-Hunting Miracle

I told you a few weeks ago that my oldest daughter, Hadas, made her first shidduch between her university classmate and the son of our close family friends. And this past Shabbat the happy engaged couple came over to say hello.
When I asked Hallel and Hovav where they’re planning to live, Hallel told me excitedly they’d found an incredible apartment: large, beautiful, centrally-located, and cheap! A small miracle in Jerusalem’s pricey and competitive real-estate market.
And then Hallel proceeded to tell me the incredible story behind their real estate windfall.
Hallel and Hovav, she told me, had been apartment hunting for a few weeks already, but all the apartments they’d seen were either too small, too expensive, too remote, or had already been snatched up before they arrived.
That changed when one Friday Hallel noticed a new posting for an apartment. Hallel’s heart sunk when she saw that the owner had written that he would only be showing the apartment on Shabbat morning. For sure, by the end of Shabbat the apartment would have been snatched up, just like all the others…
But Hallel didn’t give up. With a prayer in her heart she called the owner and explained that she wouldn’t be able to come on Shabbat, but would it be OK if she came over right then to see it?
The owner surprisingly agreed, and Hallel and Hovav ran over to see the apartment and loved it, and the owner said that since they had been the first to express interest, the apartment was theirs!
A Jerusalem real-estate miracle, in the merit of Shabbat!
May Shabbat continue to bring blessing to this wonderful young couple as they build their bayit neeman together, until 120!
