Shocking Israeli Discovery: 1st Written Record of Queen Esther’s Father-in-Law
A few months ago, the International Media Advisor to Israel’s president was touring around the Tel Lachish archeological site when he discovered a pottery shard that said “Daryavesh” on it. King Daryevesh (also known as Darius) was the father of King Achashverosh from the Purim story.
This advisor thought he must be at the receiving end of some kind of joke or at least a misunderstanding, so he was shocked to receive a call last week from Israel’s Antiquities Authority informing him that he had, in fact, discovered an authentic archeological object from over 2500 years ago! This is the first archeological find mentioning King Daryavesh ever discovered in the land of Israel.
Incredible that this artifact was authenticated right before Purim, and that the discovery was made by President Herzog’s International Media Advisor, so that this story would reach as many people as possible around the world.
I suspect this is Hashem’s way of wishing Jews around the world: “Happy Purim!”

  1. sorry to be a party pooper, but i just read that this is not authentic. the pottery shard was picked up earlier by an archeologist who was giving a tour and she wrote the inscription as a demonstration of how inscribed pottery was often used as a method of communication and identification. The archeologist was found and she explained how it got there, and admits it was careless of her to just drop it back to the ground after her demonstration….
