An Important Holiday Reminder for Parents of Adult Children by Sara Chana Radcliffe
[A challenging reminder for my fellow parents of adult children (and myself!) especially as we enter this week of blessed as well as intense family time…Chag sameach!]
Your child – whether 6, 16, 26 or older – may have problems in functioning because: human being. Problems can include social, behavioral, educational/work/, emotional and cognitive issues. These can produce negative academic, interpersonal, legal, financial and other consequences.
You will help your young child through these problems as much as possible, but your adult child will have to take personal responsibility for addressing challenges and concerns. Your job isn’t to cure your child’s problems but rather to provide intervention and support in the early years and prayers and love in the later ones.
