Mother of Hostage to Soldiers who Shot her Son: “I Love and Appreciate You. I Have no Anger”

Iris Chaim, the mother of Yotam Chaim, who tragically lost his life after being mistakenly identified as a terrorist and shot by the IDF, conveyed a heartfelt message to the soldiers involved.

In her communication, she expressed her love and gratitude to the soldiers, emphasizing her lack of resentment. โ€œI love and appreciate you. I have no anger. I understand the complicated situation you were in.โ€

Furthermore, Mrs. Chaim shared that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu personally informed her about the decision to award her son an IDF decoration. This recognition was granted despite Yotamโ€™s inability to serve in the IDF due to medical reasons, on account of his courage and daring in escaping captivity.

Yotam was abducted by Hamas terrorists on October 7 from his residence in Kfar Aza. He was 28.

The mother also told the fighters that when the fighting is over, she invites them to come and be guests in her home, and that they must not be too careful in the midst of the fighting, “Don’t hesitate for a moment if you see a terrorist, don’t think that you killed a hostage on purpose – you have to protect yourselves because that’s the only way you can protect us.”
