The Disappointment Prayer
I read this Disappointment Prayer in Garden of Gratitude by Rabbi Shalom Arush (one of my favorite books of all time). My teacher, Rabbi Nivin, coined a great phrase: refrigerator Torah. When there is a teaching he considers so important that we should tape it to our fridge so that we see it several times a day, he deems it “Refrigerator Torah.” And that’s where i think the Disappointment Prayer belongs as well:)
Master of the World, I wanted it to be one way, but I see that Your will is different.
I accept Your will, and thank You for the change in plans…
For it is surely–as always–the absolute best for me.

I love that quote about refrigerator Torah – going to start my own collection right now!
Oh how I LOVE that prayer – onto my fridge it goes!!!
I have been having a real spiritual and emuna downer in the last year, so I am going to work on fully internalizing the first line of that prayer. It’s the most realistic part for me, and I hope that the rest will follow.
Refrigerator worthy, definitely!
