My story is not about bringing lots of Jewish souls into the world, but of limiting that soul to one child and how that one child has a Jewish soul
A Jewish senior in the neighborhood had only one child and named her after one of the Matriarchs, but she gave the child no religious education. The mother became interested in yoga and focused on that; while the daughter married a catholic and started her career. For mother and daughter a career was more important then building a family.
The girl, no longer of child-bearing age, travels for work and has been in many places. Last night, the mother told me, beaming, and said I know that you will appreciate this. The daughter had to go to Israel on business and after work decided to walk the streets of Tel Aviv. She told her mother that she saw the faces of her grandmother, grandfather, aunts, uncles and cousins; and her heart opened up with a joy she never knew.
In that brief walk she realized that she was still a Jew, has always been a Jew and is young enough to find out more what it means. Interestingly, her Jewish/Yoga mom is as excited as she. Two lost souls that Hashem may be waking up. How many souls does He awake. I don’t know, but I know these two women and I am eager for the next installment.
