We have about a dozen different clocks in our home that chime in many different ways. When we have guests, they notice each one of them – but usually, daily – I don’t really notice the chimes at all. // To me, it is extraordinary that I can glance upward and lift a prayer to Hashem, and sense the connection. I pray that the ordinary monster never succeeds in eating up this extraordinary joy.
So when my Penina was born (which you davened for weekly at the Zviller Rebbe’s kever!), I decided to start saying Mizmor L’soda every day. I felt such incredible happiness and gratefulness after the birth that I needed to do something to keep the Ordinary Monster away. And now, every day when I say it, it makes me remember those feelings and makes me realize how much blessing all of my children bring. So that’s another good way to keep a feeling – do something tangible when you have that feeling. It would be interesting to know if anyone else has any ideas…
BTW, what did you say his name was again? When I googled him, I kept getting Jewishmom.com!!!

What a joy to hear you talk about the “ordinary monster”.
