Mazal Tov to Terror Orphan Tamar Fogel on her Wedding!
It’s been 10 years since the Jewish world shook with horror over the inhuman slaughter of the Fogel family–parents Udi and Ruti Fogel and 3 of their young children, including 2- month-old baby, Hadas HY”D.
The 3 surviving members of the Fogel family, children Tamar, Roee, and Yishai, today 22, 18, and 13, have been raised over the last decade by Ruti’s parents, Rabbi and Mrs. Ben Yishai.
And last week, b”H, the Fogels and Ben Yishas celebrated the wedding of Tamar, who is a Social-Work student in Jerusalem.
Rabbi Ben Yishai reflected a few months ago, on the 10th anniversary of the terror attack in Adar: “The children have grown up, and so has their consciousness and understanding. At first they acted instinctively, today they have more space, more ability to look back. To look at where they were born and raised.
“This is a good sign, because it means they also have enough confidence that they can say : ‘I had a home, I had a family, I had parents.’ I understand what I lost, and I can say out loud: Now I want to understand my identity. My roots. What did I receive? What would I like to continue to receive from them? What do I do with what happened to me?”
I am certain Tamar’s parents and siblings were standing at her side at her chuppah. May Hashem bless Tamar and her new husband and all of Am Yisrael with simchas and bracha and health this coming year and always!
