I was saddened to hear that Mikhael Gorbachev just passed away at the age of 91. There aren’t many people in history who’ve made such a dramatically positive impact on so many, and in fact, a positive impact on the entire world. Here is an incredible video from Rabbi YY Jacobson about the moving encounter between a Russian Jew and Gorbachev. I posted this 3 years ago, and this is the perfect moment to post it again to remind ourselves why we Jews owe a special debt of gratitude to this great, courageous man.
