Go, Eden, Go!

The Eurovision song contest was viewed last year by 162 million people, making it one of the most-watched non-sporting events in the world. This year’s Israeli representative, 20-year-old Eden Golan, hasn’t had an easy time of it. Her song about October 7th was originally called October Rain, but the Eurovision rejected that title because it was “too political.” So while the other lyrics remained the same, the song’s title and chorus were switched to “Hurricane.” Then, at this week’s dress...

My Heartfelt Rafah Prayer

This year I have been studying Rabbi Kosowsky’s book “DMC: Deep Meaningful Conversation-The Amida” which has revolutionized my Amidah, adding profound meaning and kavanah to every nook and cranny of my formerly rushed and blah Shemonah Esreh. At the beginning of the war, I read about the Amida prayer regarding enemies (ולמלשינים אל תהי תקוה וכל הרשעה כרגע תאבד) and Rabbi Kosowki’s incredible explanation of it has shaped my daily prayer that Israel’s genocidal enemies, Iran and its...

When the Souls of the 6 Million Danced

Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach taught that just as the men at a wedding dance backwards as they lead the bride to the chuppah with song… So too did the 6 million dance backwards and sing as they led us, the Jewish people, back to the Western Wall, back to the state of Israel, reborn. May the souls of these Kedoshim continue to watch over Israel, our soldiers, the hostages and the entire Jewish people in these perilous times.

The Soldiers’ Mother

Every Friday I attend pilates class with the mother of one of my daughter’s best friends. This past Friday, after class, I asked her what we mothers of adult children ask each other this time of year: “Who was home for seder?” “Everyone was home except my 2 older sons. They weren’t home for all of Passover.” “Really?” “Yes, my younger son just drafted with his yeshiva, he is serving now in the North. And my older son has been serving in the North also, for 150 days!” My 4 oldest...

Saluting Injured Soldier, Daniel

The most striking part of this video is Daniel’s infectious smile. His remarkable “chen.” May Hashem bless him and all our injured soldiers and their families with only goodness, health, and abundant reasons to smile from now on!
