Adorable Emilia Aloni and her mother Daniella were B”H released by Hamas on November 24th. Yesterday Emilia’s teachers and friends, at long last, welcomed her back to Gan (one classmate tells her, “I saw you on TV!”) 2 months ago this video would have seemed like an impossible dream. A few weeks ago Ada from the JewishMom WhatsApp group wrote to tell me that Nefesh b’Nefesh was buying her a plane ticket to visit her 21-year-old lone-soldier son in Israel. Meeting this lovely woman tonight over hot chocolate and bourekas reminded me what a debt of gratitude we owe to our lone soldiers. To young men, like her son, who travel across the world in order to protect Israel and Am Yisrael. So incredibly far away from Eema and Abba. My friend told me that his son called over the doctor treating him and told him: “Doctor, if you think there are injured people here who need encouragement and chizuk, put my bed next to theirs, I will give them chizuk!” No words, except Am Yisrael Chai!
